Cancel tradition has price lecturers their jobs (letter)

To the editor:

In his article “The Actual Face of Cancel Tradition,” Timothy Versteynen issues to a number of lecturers and newshounds who didn’t in fact grow to be unemployed on account of their conservative—and even simply heart of the street—perspectives. However he leaves out the various who’ve in reality misplaced their positions, both quickly or completely.

For example, I can indicate Kathleen Inventory who didn’t in reality “voluntarily” go away her educational place; she used to be receiving loss of life threats. Every other instance: legislation professor Jason Kilbourn, who used to be suspended and barred from campus for the usage of the word “n-word” in an examination query a couple of discrimination lawsuit.  There are lots of others.

When teams silence folks like Inventory and Kilbourn, they don’t seem to be appearing power or the rightness in their perspectives; they’re appearing weak point and insecurity within the energy in their arguments.
